Product Description
Common use
Lamprene is used to treat leprosy, Hansen's disease. It's active component is Clofazimine. Sometimes it can be given with other medicines for leprosy. It may also be give with a cortisone-like medicine when it is used to treat “flare-ups” of leprosy.

Dosage and directions
Take the medicine with food or milk. It's very important to keep taking the medicine during treatment, even if you begin felling better. You may take it every day during 2 years.
The dosage depends on your condition and other factors:
For leprosy:
Adults and teenagers: 50 to 100 milligrams once a day. This medicine must be taken with other medicines for the treatment of Hansen's disease.
Children: Dose must be determined by the doctor.

Precautions
Before take Lamprene discuss with your doctor if you pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding, if you take any prescribed or not prescribed medicine, herbal product or dietary supplement, if you have any allergy to food, medicine, and other substances. The medicine can cause you dizzy, drowsy. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert or able to see well. Also it can cause pink or red to brownish-black discoloration of the skin within a few weeks after you start taking it.Exposure to sunlight can cause itching, a skin rash, redness or even sunburn. So you should stay out of direct sunlight, wear protective clothing, including hat and sunglasses.

Contraindications
Discuss with your doctor all conditions you may have especially about liver disease: Clofazimine can cause hepatitis and liver disease; stomach and intestinal problems: Clofazimine often causes some stomach upset, but on rare occasion may case severe, sharp abdominal pain and burning, which may be a sign of a serious side effect

Possible side effects
The most common side effects are diarrhea, dry, rough, or scaly skin, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, pink or red to brownish-black discoloration of skin and eyes, skin rash and itching. Less common side effects include changes in taste, dryness, burning, itching, or irritation of the eyes, increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight. The rare side effects are bloody or black, tarry stools, colicky or burning abdominal or stomach pain, mental depression, yellow eyes or skin—may be an orange color if already have a pink to brownish-black skin or eye discoloration.

Drug interaction
Tell your doctor about all prescribed and no prescribed medications, herbal products you may use, especially any of the following: Aluminum Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, Phenytoin.

Missed dose
If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

Overdose
If you suppose that overdosed with Lamprene, seek urgent medical help immediately.

Storage
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing.
